Twenty years ago, residential environments started to gain prominence in the health literature. Since that time, researchers in the field have called for a greater emphasis on longitudinal measures of residential environments reflecting residential mobility across sections of the life course and examination of mediation and interaction effects. Yet, there remains limited empirical work on this subject.

Our SDOH lab aims to examine a mechanism by which residential environments impact health and health disparities. We explore a broad range of contextual factors from racial/ethnic segregation and economic conditions to neighborhood safety, walkability, and accessibility to healthy foods and physical activity resources. We are grateful for research support from the National Institutes of Health and The University of Texas at Arlington Office of Provost.
